Have you ever wanted to indulge in the famous Parisian tradition of Afternoon tea?
One of my favorite ways to experience the charm and elegance of this beautiful city is by indulging in a quintessentially French tradition: afternoon tea.
As a lover of cafes & cafe culture in Paris, there is something to be said about the delicacy of tea-time in this wondrous city.
One of my favorite ways to experience the charm and elegance of Paris by indulging in a quintessentially French tradition: Afternoon tea!
I have been to Paris quite a few times and have tried many different types of Parisian tea houses, from the Shangri-la Paris afternoon tea, to the Ritz Paris afternoon tea.
But I have to say, it is the smaller tea cafes nestled in the quaint streets of Paris that have stolen my heart.
So today, I am going to share 5 must-visit spots to enjoy luxurious afternoon tea in Paris.
What to Know About Afternoon tea in Paris, France
There’s something delightfully indulgent about the tradition of afternoon tea.
In fact, here’s a funny little story of how “tea-time” came about. This quintessentially British custom dates back to the 1800s when the Duchess of Bedford started taking tea and snacks in the late afternoon to tide her over until the evening meal. Dare I say, relatable, Duchess.
It soon caught on as a fashionable social event amongst the aristocracy. Absolutely iconic!
And while afternoon tea may have its roots in England, Paris is truly the perfect place to partake in this luxurious pastime nowadays.
The French capital exudes an ambiance of sophistication, and Paris’ cafe culture is world-renowned. From ornate tea salons to cozy hidden gems, there are so many charming spots to enjoy fragrant teas and decadent treats.
An afternoon tea in one of Paris’ beautiful tea rooms combines all the best elements the city has to offer – exquisite baked goods, seamless service, and an atmosphere of elegance and indulgence.
The Best Places for Afternoon Tea in Paris
Like I mentioned earlier, I have visited quite a few tea houses in Paris and find that the best ones are usually the lesser-known, tucked away gems.
From beautiful tea cafes from Montmartre to the Marais, make sure you add at least one of these tea houses to your list the next time you’re visiting Paris!
Without further ado, here are my 5 recommendations of the best tea spots for a luxurious afternoon in Paris.
1. Le Jardin de Mademoiselle
Ideally situated tea room with the Eiffel Tower just in sight, make sure you add Le Jardin de Mademoiselle to your bucket list when visiting Paris.
This tea house is like stepping into an indoor garden setting, where you are surrounded with flowers, decor, tea, tea accessories, and vintage furnishings, setting the scene for a picture-perfect Parisian tea experience.
Everything is dainty & beautifully decorated, the whole room is filled with so much detail. They even change up the decor for each season.
The menu at Le Jardin de Mademoiselle provides you with 3 options to choose from, with different courses depending on how hungry you are. My friend and I opted for the 2nd one, which came with tea, a healthy drink, and a dessert. The first option had fewer items, and the 3rd option had more, so it really just depends on your appetite.
After sampling the different teas that they offer (served in adorable little tea pots), you even have the option to purchase any of the teas you tried.

2. Aurava Café
If you’re looking for the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea with your girlies, Aurava Café is the BEST tea salon in Paris for just that ✨🫖💗☁️

The owner, Jeanne, is a joy to be around and always makes sure her guests feel welcomed and at ease. The vibe makes it feel more like you are dining in somebody’s quaint, warm home.
My favorite thing about this tea house is that all of the pastries and desserts are locally sourced from bakers around Paris. Meaning that you get to support a small business as well as local artisans!
From the delectable pastries to the aesthetic coffees & teas, you’ll have so much to choose from and indulge in here.
✨PSA- get the ROSE ÉCLAIR✨ — seriously I’ve never had a better eclair in my life and it is 1000% worth the hype.

3. La Cantine de Sam – Montmartre
The fact that I’ve been to Montmartre countless number of times and didn’t discover this tea house until my most recent trip in 2024 is mind blowing to me.
📍Located on 6 Rue Androuet, 75018 Paris, France, this vegetarian-only, Lebanese tea house has not only mastered the art of a warm, whimsical interior, but the food is also outstanding.
The service was lovely at La Cantine de Sam, and though I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting the owner, Sam, himself, the two girls working there were very pleasant and hospitable.
Service can be a little slow if there is a lot of people, but trust me when I say it is WORTH the wait and you’ll be happy you did!
If you’re going to order anything from the menu, make sure you at least try the Shakshuka. I had the BEST Shakshuka of my life here (and I have tried many)!Don’t just take my word for it, it is so popular it ended up becoming one of their specialties!
The vegetarian food is truly out of this world, and they have the most delicious vegan and gluten free options as well!

4. High Societhé
A quaint tea house characterized by pastel hues, delicate furnishings and a classic lightwood splash, High Societhé is the perfect place to enjoy a dollhouse-like afternoon tea in Paris.
📍Located on 100 Av. Denfert Rochereau, 75014 Paris, France, High Societhé will make you feel like you’re dining in a warm, cozy spot in your own home. You could even bring a book here to enjoy while you sip on some of their lovely teas.
High Societhé offers an original assortment of teapots and numerous desserts, with so many delicious flavors to choose from. The teapots are also a generous size, so keep that in mind when ordering. The apple cinnamon tea is absolutely divine!
Try to reserve this place ahead of time if you plan on visiting on the weekend. If not, you may also have luck finding a table here if you go during off hours.
The prices are fair, and you’ll be looking at around 30€ for two people for 2 few teas, and a few scones or cakes.

5. Les Deux Abeilles
Translated to ‘The Two Bees’, this quaint little Brunch/Tea House Cafe is an amazing place for lunch or teatime.
📍Located on 189 Rue de l’Université in the 7th arrondissement, not far from the Eiffel Tower, Les Deux Abeilles is an elegant tea house/cafe that has a very cozy and Parisian feel to it. From the outside, it has a very minimalistic, chic look and you wouldn’t suspect it to be one of the most coveted cafes in Paris!
This cafe is perfect to visit with a significant other, or even if you have a group of small girls (4 or less). Keep in mind that it is a small restaurant and the tables are quite close together, so this place can get pretty packed on the weekends or in high times!
You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but here are some options that I would recommend ordering:
- Homemade lemon juice with ginger and honey
- Old-fashioned hot chocolate
- Tart tatin
- Pear cobbler
- Lemon meringue tart
- Goat cheese tarts
- Pine nut salad
You can’t go wrong with any of the options above! They are all to-die-for. Keep in mind that the prices here are a little higher than normal. This could be given the location since it is not far from the Eiffel Tower.
🛜 Wifi: No
🌱 V/VG/GF: Yes, many
✨ Ambiance: Elegant and quaint
☕️ Specialty: Goat cheese tarts, homemade lemon juice
