Is Pink Mamma Paris really worth the hype?

After eyeing this place for years, saving it to my Pinterest board, and finally making my way down to this pretty little trattoria… I can definitely say Pink Mamma Paris is worth the hype

Allow me to take you inside Paris’ most iconic restaurant, run by the world renowned ‘Big Mama Group’,

pink mamma paris

Ever wanted to visit this insta-famous, portrait-lined hallway, 4-story masterpiece of a restaurant, but wondered if it was really worth the hype, or if the food was even that good? I’m here to let you know that Pink Mamma is just, if not more, awe-inspiring in person.

And what’s more than that? The food is actually good. I mean, really quite delicious. And I guess that makes sense considering Big Mamma restaurants cultivate that ‘authentic trattoria vibe’ and serves some of the most authentic Italian food you’ll ever try.

Now, let’s talk everything there is to know about this restaurant, starting with reservations, how to guarantee terrace (garden roof) seating, the best way to get there, what to order, and things you may not have known about Pink Mamma Paris!

Reservations at Pink Mamma

The only downside (if you can even call it that) of this restaurant might be its reservation policy. Their website allows you to book no more than 30 days in advance for 2-7 people, and no more than 37 days in advance if you’re a party of 8 or more. So if you know you have a Paris trip coming up, make sure to keep this in mind and reserve EARLY!!

Or, if you’re last minute like me, you can do what I did and book a table 2 DAYS in advance… and yes, they were garden terrace reservations as well. Make sure to check the website daily about a week out from when I’d be there, and 2 days before, 4 reservations opened up. 2 for ‘Tea time’, and 2 for dinner. I opted for Tea Time, since that was guaranteed rooftop seating.

Tea Time

If you really just want to go to Pink Mamma for the experience and ambiance and food isn’t your biggest priority, book the ‘Tea time’, which runs from 4-5:30pm everyday. Tea time runs from 30€ for the soft/mocktail formula and 35€ if you prefer an alcoholic drink.

Tea time is always held on the terrace, so you’re guaranteed rooftop seating. It’s served with a cold drink, hot drink, as well as a 3-tier dessert tray, which features scones, savory hot bread, and a variety of other pastries. It is quite filling, so make sure to go hungry.

I specifically recommend ordering the mango flavored mocktail, which is served almost like a crème brûlée, hot on top and cold and rich on the inside.

Tea Time is perfect for you if:

  • You want guaranteed seating on the Garden Rooftop
  • You really care more about the place, and less about the food
  • Want to avoid the crowds that are a Pink Mamma guarantee
  • Want to get those ‘Insta-worthy’ photos with nobody else in the frame!

Best way to get to Pink Mamma

Pink Mamma is located on 20bis Rue de Douai, between the 9th and 18th arrondissements.

Where about are you exactly? For reference, you are very close to the Moulin Rouge, the Sacre Coeur, and Montmartre. So if you had plans to visit any of those, Pink Mamma would be a great stop on the way!

The Pink Mamma restaurant in Paris is located within a 5-10 minute walking distance of 3 nearby metro stations Blanche, Pigalle, and Place de Clichy.

What to Order at Pink Mamma

As mentioned earlier, if you’re headed to Pink Mamma for the Tea time, make sure the Mango mocktail is on your list. As for everything else, you really only have a drink choice, as the desserts & pastries are already pre-set. Consequently, if you’re going for lunch or dinner, that’s a completely different scenario.

Here are the Top 5 best dishes to order at Pink Mamma.

  1. Truffle Pasta
  2. Burrata Al Pesto Rosso
  3. Margherita Pizza
  4. T-Bone Fiorentina Steak
  5. Crème Brûlée

The Truffle Pasta is absolutely to die-for. If you can only pick one thing to get from the menu, this is the dish. Pair this with the Burrata Al Pesto Rosso appetizer and finish it off with Crème Brûlée for a delicious meal. The T-bone steak is fantastic for meat lovers, and you can never go wrong with a Margherita ?

Hidden Gem Speakeasy at Pink Mamma

BONUS TIP! If you have some time to spare, make sure to check out Pink Mamma’s hidden speakeasy, ‘No Entry’! It’s located right as soon as you walk in, to the left of the entrance. A secret staircase will take you down and end up at one of Paris’ finest cocktails bars.

It’s a seductive speakeasy with a fiery red flare, and the cocktails are to-die-for. Make sure to grab one of their specialties: Italian liquor or a custom-made cocktail. The bartenders create some outrageous cocktail combinations. Make sure to ask for recommendations, they are always happy to guide you through the unusual cocktail combinations!
