Best travel outfits for europe

This post will cover everything from outfits to wear in Europe during the Winter and Fall. If chic, elegant style is your vibe, keep reading for a curated list of the best travel outfits for Europe.

Of all the countries out there, Europe may be the one best-known for its fashion… and rightfully so. When we think of European fashion, we think of timeless, classic, minimalism. How is it that the girls there just wake up looking chic? I mean, is that at all fair for the rest of us?

Fortunately, there are some easy-to-implement techniques to get that ‘European girl effortless chic’ look, and in today’s post, I’m going to show you how to achieve it.

But first, here are some general things you should know about European fashion. While in America, we prioritize comfort first, Europeans will prioritize looking chic first, and THEN comfort. Secondly, casual and athletic wear isn’t really a thing there. Dress to impress, or nothing!

As a lover of travel and fashion, putting together European outfit ideas is one of my favorite things to do. While I do love throwing in luxury pieces here and there, I am ALL about how to look elegant on a budget.

The pieces and outfits I’m going to showcase below are what I’d like to call ‘Affordable Luxury’, with there being a few designer items, but I will also include budget-friendly alternatives!

When I am traveling to Europe in the winter, one of my go-to items is always a trench coat. This is a European fashion staple, and will keep you warm during the colder months in this region.

My favorite trench coats are typically made of wool, and some of my favorite places to shop for them is Mango, Sézane, Cole Hahn and & Other Stories. The one featured in the image above is from Mango, but unfortunately it is sold out.

Over-the-knee boots are another classic! Especially when walking miles throughout Europe, you want to be comfortable. These boots get me through all of my travels with ease, are super comfortable to walk long distances in, and do not wear down quickly. They’ve last me almost 3 years, and are still in great condition!

I’ve linked some beautiful alternatives below, along with the other pieces you can shop in this look!

It definitely does get cold in Europe in the winter, so if you’re a hat lover like me, this Rag & Bone beanie is one of the most chic beanie’s I’ve come across. It screams classy while also remaining casual. I couldn’t recommend it more!

Outfit Idea #3

This is definitely one of the Europe travel outfits I’ve been loving recently. It involves a shorter dress, longer coat, stockings of some sort (so your legs aren’t totally freezing), booties, and cute accessories!

Zara is one of the best places to shop for basics like this grey dress, but I also recommend checking out sites like ASOS, Quince, and even Abercrombie.

As I mentioned before, nothing is complete without a trench coat, and this applies to Europe in both the fall AND the winter. So, take a look at the websites I mentioned before for the best trench coats. or check out the one I linked below that is almost an exact match to the one I’m wearing.

Ah, at last. The classique! An outfit for the traveler who opts for a more classic and elegant vibe, this is your look.

This outfit does involve a designer jacket from Burberry, but you can always go for a similar look by pairing it with a quilted jacket from Commense, NA-KD, ASOS, or Everlane! They have beautiful options if you’re looking to mimic the Burberry classic quilt look.

This is the perfect outfit for Europe in the fall because it includes a mix of seasonal pieces. A short black dress a European packing essential. You must include at least one black dress in your suitcase. This one featured above is from Madewell, and is one of my favorite pieces in my closet for its versatility, comfort, and style.

Outfit #5

travel outfits Europe

Last but not least, I’m leaving you with one of my favorite Europe travel outfits! This outfit is a cross between minimalistic chic, and I love it because it combines practical pieces with an upscale aesthetic.

The piece that ties this whole outfit together is, arguably, the scarf. You can wear this scarf with almost anything as it is a basic and a neutral. You’ve probably seen these scarves gain popularity in recent years, and one of the most notable brands for carrying them is Acne Studios.

While I do love Acne studio scarves, they are not budget friendly AT ALL. So, I rounded up an alternative from Princess Polly that you can shop below. It’s basically the same thing, at a fraction of the price!

Final Thoughts

As you can see, a lot of the pieces listed in these outfits are the same. That is because creating a capsule wardrobe is so important! You don’t have to splurge on 100’s of items when you invest in some classic pieces that you can use all year round with many different outfits.

By the way, the headphones I’m wearing in the picture below are my new FAVORITE obsession! They are Mondos over the ear headphones. Find them here- Amazon.
