From the Madison micro to the Gabrielle East-West shoulder bag and tote, I put Parisa Wang’s most talked-about styles to the test, for everyday and for work.

Parisa Wang has been popping up everywhere in my feed for the past year, and I finally understand why. You know when your Instagram algorithm hands you a brand before everyone else catches on, and it ends up being the one you obsess over? That’s how I feel about Parisa Wang.

I tested three styles from this brand that each show off a completely different side of the brand: the Madison Micro in pebbled calfskin, the Gabrielle East-West Tote in suede, and the Gabrielle East-West Shoulder Bag in smooth leather. Three bags, three leathers, all of which turned out to be the perfect way to put Parisa Wang’s quality to the test.

This is my full review covering first impressions, design details, what fits inside, and the pros and cons of all three bags. Let’s get into it.

About Parisa Wang

Parisa Wang is a New York-based handbag label founded in 2016 by Parisa Wang herself. As a young designer creating handbags she couldn’t afford to buy on her own salary, Parisa saw firsthand how exceptional craftsmanship usually comes with an enormous markup, and she set out to close that gap.

She now partners directly with the same ateliers trusted by major luxury houses, which means you’re getting genuine full-grain leather and real workmanship without the traditional luxury price tag attached. She even noted that artisans work on Parisa Wang bags just a few tables away from Prada!

Price points for this brand and the bags mentioned in this article fall between $400 and $700 depending on the style and leather, which puts Parisa Wang in that mid-range sweet spot.

Style #1: Madison Micro Top Handle Bag

I chose the Madison Micro bag in black, crafted from Italian full grain pebbled calfskin. This was the first bag I unboxed, and it might just be my favorite out of the three. Everything from the shape down the details make this the perfect everyday mini bag. It’s also the most complimented small bag I currently own.

Price: $438

Best For: Anyone who wants a small bag that holds more than it looks like it should, and loves a polished, compliment-worthy everyday carry.

First Impressions

It was love at first sight with the Madison Micro Top Handle bag. When I unboxed it, it actually wasn’t as tiny as I was expecting it to be! I actually compared it to my Strathberry Mosaic, and they are relatively the same size. So, even though it’s advertised as ‘micro’, I would just call it a smaller bag overall.

What I really loved about this bag, though, was the quality of the leather. I own quite a few pebbled-leather bags at this point, so I’m pretty picky when it comes to the quality, suppleness, and how well a bag holds its structure. The Madison Micro bag is the perfect blend of soft, supple leather, and its silhouette holds its shape very well. At $438, this bag looks and feels a lot more expensive than it actually is.

I recently took it out to dinner the other night, and strangers, friends, and staff alike complimented me on it—if that’s any testament to how eye-catching this bag really is.

What Fits Inside

Coming in at 8.5″ wide, 6.5″ tall, and weighing approximately 1.2lbs, don’t let the “micro” description of this bag fool you! It holds a lot more than you would think. The Madison Micro fits a small makeup pouch, my AirPods, a MagSafe charger, a small wallet, and a sunglasses case, without stretching or distorting the shape.

Parisa Wang lists the official capacity as fitting up to a smartphone, but in real life it holds quite a bit more than that. I think it’s because the bag happens to be wide, which is why it can fit a lot more. For a bag this size, I’m very impressed with how much it can actually hold.

Design, Functionality & Features

The Madison line comes in three sizes (Micro, Medium, and Large), and it’s also available in a full grain calfskin with a signature walrus texture if pebbled isn’t your thing. I love that it comes in so many different color variations as well, but keep in mind that colors do change seasonally! And sometimes, they will have certain colors available on pre-order.

One of my favorite design aspects about Parisa Wang bags, specifically on the Madison and Grace styles, are the gold vintage-inspired locks on the front of the bags. According to Parisa, this signature detail was inspired by antique hardware spotted on a doorknob on Madison Avenue. I mean come on, how iconic is that?

Another detail I appreciate is how functional this bag is. Even though it’s marketed as a ‘top handle’ bag, it comes with a removable adjustable crossbody strap, which means you get to decide how you want to wear it: polished and structured by the handle, or hands-free with the strap.

Finally, I love that the bottom comes with feet! This is such an important detail for me, because I tend to put my bags down everywhere and I like that extra hardware on the bottom of the bag for protection.

Pros & Cons of the Madison Micro

What I love:

  • Holds far more than its tiny size suggests
  • The pebbled leather is low-maintenance and resists scratches beautifully
  • The vintage lock detail feels expensive without screaming logo
  • Easy to switch between handheld and crossbody

Worth knowing before you buy:

  • The handle drop is short, so it sits close to the body when carried by hand
  • If you need more than your essentials, this isn’t your everyday bag

Style #2: The Gabrielle East-West Tote

Next up is the Gabrielle East-West Tote, which I chose in the brown (looks more amber-ish brown) suede. This is the largest of the three bags I tested, and it was clearly built with the workday in mind.

Price: $678

Best for: Anyone who needs a beautiful work tote that fits a laptop and daily essentials without sacrificing style.

Parisa Wang Gabrielle East West Tote

First Impressions

One of the first things I noticed when unboxing this bag is that there was no factory or chemical smell, which was so refreshing to experience. All of their bags come in a beautiful blue box, and are packed very securely.

Another detail I love is that all of their bags come in a canvas tote bag, rather than a regular dust bag! This is such a thoughtful feature, as you can re-use these cute tote bags for different things.

With regards to the suede quality, it is soft without feeling delicate, and the amber-brown shade has so much warmth to it. The silhouette of the Gabrielle East West Tote is definitely structured, but it is not stiff by any means. It has with two tubular top handles and a tied, adjustable leather knot at the top, which keeps the straps together.

Quick note on suede: While suede does require a bit more care than pebbled leather, a suede-safe protector spray can go a long way in preserving the material. I have and recommend this one by leather honey. I’ve used it on all my suede bags and it works wonders!

What Fits Inside

The Gabrielle East-West Tote measures in at 11.8″ wide at the bottom, 9″ tall, and weighs about 1.7 lb. It fits up to a 14″ laptop, notebook, sunglasses case, pencil case, MagSafe charger, AirPods, small wallet, sizable makeup/toiletry pouch, with room to spare a cardigan, water bottle, and a few more small items. This is truly a work tote, not just a tote that claims to be one.

The main compartment closes with a full zip across the top, which matters a lot for a bag that’s commuting with you. I’m also happy to report that the zipper glides like butter. I really love how they added two exterior pockets to this bag, which make it so easy to grab my phone, headphones, or keys easily without having to unzip the main pocket.

To get a sense of scale, I lined the Gabrielle East-West Tote up next to my Le Tanneur Elena bag, since both are work totes I reach for regularly. Standing side by side, the Gabrielle is noticeably more compact, but it still holds everything my Elena does. They are both around the same price as well. If you want to see exactly how I use the Elena as a work tote and everything that fits inside it, read my full Le Tanneur Elena review here.

My new favorite work tote, hands down. Obsessed with the size of this one, it’s not too big & holds my 13-inch laptop perfectly. Love the 3 functional pockets as well to organize everything. The suede is so soft and color is gorg! Tysm for this gorgeous addition @Parisa Wang New York 🫶🏽👜 #worktote #bagsforwork #workbags #workbagsforwomen

Design, Functionality & Features

The Gabrielle East West Tote bag features a zip-top main compartment along with exterior slip pockets built into the sides, so your smaller items don’t disappear to the bottom.

The suede holds its shape beautifully even when fully loaded, and the gold hardware on the zipper pull paired with the suede luggage-tag charm, adds a quiet, finished detail that gives quiet luxury.

I mentioned before that Parisa Wang bags are very thoughtful and considered when it comes to the details. One detail I particularly appreciate is that the zipper tail is designed to be tucked inside the bag via an invisible magnet to maintain the clean, precise look of this silhouette.

Pros & Cons of the Gabrielle East-West Tote

What I love:

  • Comfortably fits a laptop and daily essentials with room to spare
  • The suede feels luxurious without feeling precious
  • Holds its shape even when fully loaded
  • Exterior pockets for easy access to your phone or keys
  • Perfect mid-size work or office bag. Not too big, not too small

Worth knowing before you buy:

  • Suede needs more care than smooth or pebbled leather, especially if you live somewhere rainy

Style #3: The Gabrielle East-West Shoulder Bag

Last up is the Gabrielle East-West Shoulder Bag in smooth brown leather, and this one might be my favorite surprise of the three.

Price: $458

Best for: Anyone drawn to quiet luxury who wants a minimalist, hardware-free bag that still holds more than expected.

Parisa Wang

First Impressions

The first thing you notice on this bag is what’s not there. No signature lock hardware on the front, no PW plaque on the back, no gold detailing anywhere except for a subtle “PARISA WANG NEW YORK” stamp on the side panel. That’s it. This bag is as quiet luxury as it gets, and I mean that as the highest compliment. If you know, you know.

The smooth calfskin on the Gabrielle East West Shoulder Bag is buttery and soft straight out of the box, with none of the stiffness you sometimes get with structured leather bags. I love that it’s malleable, meaning it moves with you rather than holding a rigid shape against you. It’s also very comfortable to rest your arm on top of while it’s under your shoulder, not bulky at all!

One thing worth noting: that this bag comes in two different sizes, the small and the medium. Personally, I find the small to be the more aesthetically pleasing size, especially in this minimalist style. If I wanted a bag with more space, I’d go for the Madison or Grace styles instead!

What Fits Inside

The Gabrielle East-West Shoulder Bag in the small size measures in at 11.4″ across the bottom, 5″ tall, and weighs about 1 lb. It fits a wallet, keys, sunglasses, a MagSafe charger, AirPods, and a small makeup bag with a powder compact, brush, mini hairbrush, and a perfume, all at once.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t shocked by how much could actually fit in this bag, given how sleek and low-profile it looks from the outside. The exterior front pockets (similar to the Gabrielle East-West Tote) are also a feature I’ve been loving for quick-grab items. I keep my AirPods, bobby pins, and eyebrow spoolies in there so I’m not digging through the main compartment every five minutes.

Design, Functionality & Features

The silhouette of this bag is elongated and slightly boxy, with two smooth tubular shoulder straps that sit comfortably and don’t dig in. The zip closure runs across the full top of the bag, and the clean stitching throughout is the only decorative detail. There’s no hardware to tarnish, no logo to worry about, and nothing to distract from the leather itself, which I love.

Similar to the East West Tote, the Gabrielle Shoulder Bag also has two exterior pockets which make it easy to keep small essentials in. For me, I’ll either throw my AirPods or keys in there for quick access!

This bag leans much more minimalist than the Madison Micro or the Gabrielle Tote, and that’s what makes it so versatile for everyday wear.

How I Style It

I’ve been reaching for this one with black and white almost exclusively, and I love how the cognac brown makes the whole look pop when everything else is minimal. A black strapless top, white wide-leg trousers, a wide satin belt and strappy sandals is the outfit I keep coming back to. The bag is the focal point, and the rest of the outfit just frames it.

The Gabrielle East West Shoulder Bag is one of those pieces that works just as well handheld as it does on the shoulder, and it looks incredibly chic carried by hand on the street.

Pros & Cons of the Gabrielle East-West Shoulder Bag

What I love:

  • The minimalist design and quality is rare at this price point
  • The soft leather and straps are comfortable to carry under your shoulder
  • Holds way more than it looks like it should
  • The exterior front pockets are practical and thoughtfully placed
  • Incredibly versatile: works for daytime errands, lunch, or an evening out

Worth knowing before you buy:

  • No crossbody strap option, so this is a shoulder or handheld carry only
  • The lack of hardware won’t be for everyone if you prefer the signature lock look of the Madison
  • Smooth leather shows light scratches more than pebbled, so handle with a little care

Price & Value: Is Parisa Wang Worth It?

Parisa Wang bags sit in the $400–$700 range across the three styles I tested, which puts the brand solidly in mid-range luxury territory. For full-grain leather sourced from LWG-certified tanneries, real workmanship from the same ateliers behind major luxury houses, and a one-year warranty covering manufacturing defects, I truly believe Parisa Wang bags are worth the price.

What I appreciate most about these bags, is that the quality holds up no matter which leather you choose. Pebbled, suede, or smooth, every piece feels intentional, well constructed, and worth what I paid for it.
